Puya, the truth about the concert in Vama Veche that ended with a scandal: “They threw bottles with sand, with vodka”

Puya made new revelations about the scandal that took place several years ago at a concert he performed in Vama Veche. During the event, the artist was the target of violent incidents, being attacked with bottles and cursed by certain spectators.

A recent guest on Mihai Bobonete’s podcast, Puya recalled the concert he performed in Vama Veche a few years ago, which turned out to be a difficult moment. Held in 2011, the event was marked by serious incidents, in which the artist was confronted with boos, insults and even physical attacks from disgruntled spectators.

However, despite the tense atmosphere, Puya managed to carry his recital to the end on the stage of the Folk You Festival in Vama Veche.

“We had a show at Vama Veche. I was invited to some folk gathering. It’s a bank that ends badly… It was organized by Mr. Tucă, if I’m not mistaken. And they thought to call that year and rap. I had released Somewhere in the Balkans, Change, etc. The folkists did not appreciate it. They thought it sounded manela or something. It was too commercial for them. And they found bottles full of sand. Vodka bottles… I, from the stage, said: “Because of this I will sing the whole show for you”. And I put on the next piece. Come on, with bottles. After three, four pieces, they were up… Oh, babe, let me show you… Have you ever seen it?”says Puya, to the amusement of Mihai Bobonete, according to fanatik.ro.

Puya also revealed who could have been the agitator behind the scandal. The singer managed to finish his program, but was removed from the stage by the gendarmes.

“Finally, I told the DJ who kept avoiding (the bottles, ed.) that I’d pissed him off enough, let’s go home. (…) The gendarmes came to take me out of there, it was a mini revolution. After that I found out that someone had agitated the spirits on the net before. “Well, if this one comes, let’s do it, let’s chase him. That it’s blasphemy, how to bring rap…”. I was the worst possible thing for those people over there. But now I burst out laughing, I get such satisfaction from that… I would say to them: “Hey, folkists! If you somehow want to see rockers in Vama Veche, you must have a concert with me». But we had the biggest problems with folkists”Puya also said.

The 2011 Folk You festival in Vama Veche was a large one, with the participation of some famous names from the Romanian music industry, such as Mircea Baniciu, Vama, Florin Chilian, Zdob si Zdub, Holograf, Taxi, Tudor Gheorghe and Nicu Alifantis.
