A shocking case has disturbed the tranquility of Norway and the United Kingdom, revealing the darkness of an extremely dangerous subculture. Marius Gustavson, 46, a Norwegian citizen, was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison for orchestrating a perverse business that resulted in the extreme physical mutilation of several vulnerable men.

His actions not only shed light on a sinister internet subterfuge, but also revealed the deep roots of body identity disorders and compulsive behaviors, according to SkyNews.

Dark Business: “Eunuchmaker.com”

Gustavson created a terrifying website called “eunuchmaker.com” on which he offered extreme body modification “services”. These services, including male castration and penis removal, were streamed online, attracting thousands of followers.

They were paying substantial sums to undergo the gruesome procedures. His website, seemingly innocent by its strange name, quickly became a meeting place for those looking to transform their bodies in unimaginable ways.

Macabre trophies

But not only his clients fell prey to the inferno created by Gustavson. He himself was a victim of his own delusions, cutting off his penis and freezing his limbs. Later, he amputated a leg.

Before his “eunuch creator” operation was foiled, Marius Gustavson boasted online that he had a body part removed to “look like a Ken doll”.

The 46-year-old recruited someone to cut off his penis with a kitchen knife in his north London flat and two others to remove his nipple and freeze his leg until it was amputated.

With a strange determination, he kept these body parts in the freezer, as trophies of his macabre acts.

An atmosphere of cult and psychological manipulation

A disturbing aspect of this case is how Gustavson was able to manipulate and draw others into his darkness. He created a “cult atmosphere”, captivating those around him and causing them to participate in his macabre actions. Recruiting accomplices to aid him in his brutal procedures, he used a combination of sexual gratification and financial reward to lure others into his deadly web.

A total of ten men admitted their involvement in the extreme body modifications that were streamed on Gustavson’s pay-per-view or subscription website.

The Norwegian national was today jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years after pleading guilty to multiple charges of conspiracy and grievous bodily harm.

Gustavson’s former assistant David Carruthers, 61, Janus Atkin, 39 – who studied to be a vet – retired chemist Peter Wates, 67, and Romanian national Ion Ciucur, 30 years, previously pleaded guilty to complicity between 2016 and 2022.

They were sentenced to 11 years, 12 years, 12 years and five years and eight months respectively.

Carruthers’ partner Ashley Williams, 32, and German Stefan Scharf, 61, also pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and were each sentenced to four years and half a prison.

Profound legal and psychological implications

Although cases of extreme body modification are rare, they have devastating consequences for the victims and society as a whole. They shed light on the darkness of a hidden subculture and highlight the dire need for regulation and monitoring of online activities that promote or facilitate such harmful behaviors.

Psychologist Naomi Murphy reveals the shocking reason behind bodily integrity identity disorder in the case of Marius Gustavson.

In a recent interview with Sky News, Dr Naomi Murphy, a renowned consultant clinical psychologist and forensic scientist, shed light on a deeply disturbing aspect of the case of Marius Gustavson, known as the ‘eunuch maker’.

There are many reasons why people with Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) might try to remove their genitalia”Dr. Murphy explained.

In Gustavson’s case, a sexual subtype of BIID appears to be present, in which the patient becomes fixated with a limb or body part and seeks its amputation as a solution to psychological discomfort.”

The expert pointed out that these behaviors are not isolated and that there is an online subculture of “genital annulment,” in which individuals attempt to modify their bodies in extreme ways.

Furthermore, Dr. Murphy added that people with BIID are often drawn to the idea of disability, associating it with caregiving. They see amputation as an extreme way to force people to take care of them.

Regarding Gustavson’s specific case, Dr. Murphy pointed out that although it is a mental disorder, the person is not psychotic and knows that part of their body is healthy, but does not feel good about it there.

She explained that these reasons can be rooted in childhood trauma, abuse or neglect, which can lead to a need for attention and acceptance.

Dr. Naomi Murphy has extensive experience in clinical psychology and forensics. He previously worked as a clinical director of a security unit, speaking to people who had committed serious violent and sexually violent crimes.

Finally, Dr Murphy warned of the risk posed by extreme online content to vulnerable people, including young people. She emphasized the importance of monitoring and regulating this content to protect the public from potential negative consequences.
