Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy dismissed the head of the State Security Administration of Ukraine (UDO), Serhii Rud, according to a presidential decree published on May 9, writes Kyiv Independent. Rud’s dismissal comes shortly after Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) announced it had busted a network of Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) agents who were plotting to assassinate President Zelensky.

The main tasks of the UDO include ensuring the security of the President of Ukraine and high-ranking state officials, as well as the protection of administrative buildings and objects of state authorities in Ukraine.

Rud’s dismissal comes shortly after Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) said it had uncovered a network of Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) agents plotting to assassinate President Zelensky and other high-ranking officials tall from Ukraine.

Two UDO colonels accused of leaking classified information to Russia have been detained.

The FSB network sought to find the perpetrators among the military close to Zelensky’s security, “who could take the head of state hostage and then kill him.”

Just weeks before, Polish SBU and law enforcement officials worked to detain a Polish national who allegedly offered Russia to assassinate President Zelenski.

At the end of November, Zelensky stated in an interview with The Sun publication that he had survived at least five assassination attempts since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
