One person died and several were seriously injured during an armed incident that took place during the night from Friday to Saturday in the town of Sevran in Seine-Saint-Denis, a poor department east of Paris, reports AFP.
The facts happened on Friday around 11:45 p.m., the judicial authorities stated, confirming an information broadcast by Actu 17.
When the police arrived at the scene, four injured people were on the ground, a police source told AFP.
Despite the intervention of the emergency services, one person was declared dead on the spot a few minutes after the armed incident. The other three wounded, whose vital prognoses were serious, were evacuated to different hospitals in the Paris region. During the night, three other people wounded by gunfire were admitted to a hospital center in Aulnay-sous-Bois, a town neighboring Sevran, the same source added.
According to the first information, two individuals arrived in a parking lot with a Peugeot 5008 car. The passenger got out of the vehicle and then fired several times before running away, the police source said.
No arrests had been made early Saturday morning.
An investigation has been opened for premeditated murder by an organized gang and attempted murder by an organized gang. The investigation was entrusted to the criminal brigade of the judicial police in Paris, the prosecutor’s office told AFP.
The mayor of Sevran, Stephane Blanchet, said that the armed incident took place in a parking lot near a cultural home. “We don’t have to hide: it is definitely a settlement of accounts related to drug trafficking”, reacted the elected official, contacted by AFP by phone.
