The police had to use a stun gun to neutralize Vunipola, after the presence of law enforcement officers was requested in the respective premises due to the behavior of the rugby player.

According to the witnesses, the athlete threatened the customers and the security personnel inside the place, where he threw bottles and chairs. The events happened around 4:30 in the morning.

It took eight policemen to immobilize the 1.88m and 126kg rugby player, who was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he was sedated and tied to the bed. He was brought before a judge on Sunday afternoon, who decided to release him on bail.

Aged 31, Billy Vunipola was born in Australia to Tongan parents and moved to the UK with his family as a child. He made his debut in the Trandafir team in 2013, on the occasion of the Six Nations Tournament. He was part of the world vice-champion team in 2019 and the one that took third place at last year’s World Cup.
