The Abrams tanks donated by the Americans are not used by the Ukrainians because of the Russian drones
Ukraine moved the American Abrams M1A1 tanks to safe places specifically because Russian drones can detect them and launch attacks, two US military officials said, according to Sky News.
The Americans sent 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine in January 2023.
The armored vehicles, worth about 10 million dollars each, were considered vital for attacking Russian positions.
The Russians have started using more surveillance drones and hunter-killer drones, making the task of protecting the tanks more difficult for the Ukrainians.
Five of the 31 Abrams tanks have already been lost to Russian attacks.
For the time being, the tanks were removed from the front. The Americans will work with the Ukrainians to modify the battle tactics.
