The parents of a child in Poland have been detained after the father tried to strangle the boy as his mother watched passively, saying that “maybe there will be peace”. The shocking scenes were broadcast LIVE on TikTok, the local press writes.

Child Protection Officers notified the police in Dąbrowa Górnicza about the disturbing footage.

The man immobilized his son and then tried to suffocate him under the weight of his own body. The child started screaming and asked his mother for help, but she did not react.

“Maybe there will finally be peace,” the woman is heard saying on the recording.

Finally the man let go of his son when he saw that he could no longer breathe. Frightened, his mother cradled him in her arms and tried to help him recover. At some point the boy started breathing again.

“It is possible that he was one step away from tragedy. The parents broadcast the entire scene on TikTok. Someone recorded and sent us the footage. We immediately alerted the police in Dabrowa Gornicza,” said Karolina Krupa-Gawel, from the Child Protection Directorate in Poland.

The police announced on Friday evening that the child’s parents had been detained and an investigation had been launched. The two face up to 15 years in prison for acts of violence against a child.
