A 27-year-old man was detained after he caused an accident on Thursday at the junction of the A1 and A6 roads, near Lugoj, and continued his journey. When they caught him, the police determined that he was drunk, possibly on drugs, and found a bag of drugs in his car.
The policemen of the A1 Deva – Nădlac Highway Office were informed on Thursday about the fact that at the A1 road junction with the A6, km 458, there was a road accident with material damage, the driver continuing his journey on the A6 towards Lugoj.
The police managed to identify the driver, a 27-year-old man.
He was stopped at the exit from the A6 towards Lugoj Ring Road.
After testing it with the breathalyzer, a value of 0.59 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air resulted. Also, after testing with the device provided, indications emerged regarding the possible presence of psychoactive substances.
The young man was taken to a hospital unit for the collection of biological samples, in order to accurately establish the consumption of prohibited substances.
At the same time, following the control, a bag was found in the car containing plant substances likely to produce psychoactive effects.
They were picked up and sealed, being forwarded to BCCO Timișoara for further investigations.
In the case, the police have drawn up a criminal case for the offenses of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcoholic beverages, driving a vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances, as well as possession of drugs for consumption.
Following the administered probation, the young man was detained for a period of 24 hours and was placed in the Detention and Preventive Arrest Center in Caraș-Severin.
