Senator Claudiu Târziu, president of the National Leadership Council of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians and president of the Commission for Romanians everywhere in the Romanian Senate, marks in a press release the triple significance of May 10.

“Dear Romanians,
Today, May 10, we make a triple anniversary stop:
We mark Romania’s National Independence Day, proclaimed by the country’s Senate on May 10, 1877, the Day of Romanian Royalty, in memory of the fact that on May 10, 1881, our state independence was consolidated by the proclamation of the Kingdom, and, likewise, the Balkan Romanian Day, as a reminder of the official recognition, in 1905, of the Romanians from the Balkan Peninsula as a nation distinct from the Greek one.
In this age of dissolving globalism, the three meanings of today must be emphasized with renewed force.

The independence and state sovereignty of Romania, as well as its national, unitary and indivisible character, are goods won with the blood sacrifice of our forefathers, therefore they cannot be surrendered or limited according to the whims of the pseudo-European bureaucrats from Brussels or some rapacious dictators from the East . In this context, I strongly reaffirm our legitimate ideal of national reunification. Europe cannot be truly whole if the sovereign nations that make it up are divided. We want a Europe of Nations, not of pieces of nations. The border of the European Union must not cut the body of our nation in two, causing a serious threat to national and European security. Bessarabia is, through and through, an inseparable historical part of the indivisible Romanian Motherland. The proof is in the heart of Chisinau the monument of Ruler Stephen the Great and Saint, cast in Bucharest from the Turkish cannons taken as a trophy by our glorious Army in the Romanian War of Independence.

The Kingdom of Romania, proclaimed in 1881, completed the political organization of our nation, naturally crowning a historical process of over five centuries of elective monarchies in the Romanian Principalities. The royalty was abolished abusively under the pressure of the Kremlin and was not restored with the collapse of the communist dictatorship also because of the people of Moscow. A Kingdom of Romania after 1990 would have brought our country and nation more internal balance and international prestige.

Romania continues to be surrounded by historical communities of Romanians, whose rights are not respected to European standards and are not effectively ensured by the governments of Kiev, Budapest, Belgrade, Sofia, Skopje, Athens and Tirana. As a related state, Romania has the moral, constitutional and legal obligation to actively intervene for the massive and exemplary support of the Romanian minorities around the borders and in

Balkans, undeservedly in cultural and identity difficulty due to the policies and practices often hostile and contrary to the European spirit of the respective governments. The Balkan Romanians – Aromanians, Megleno-Romanians, Istro-Romanians, Daco-Romanians and all the other brothers who belong to the Romanian cultural strand – need the saving support of the Romanian state and must once again become a priority of Romania’s foreign policy, both in bilateral relations with the targeted states and in international forums concerned with ensuring the rights of national minorities.

Happy Birthday Romania!

Happy birthday, Romanian brothers from the Balkans!”
