Terrible death for a 23-year-old Romanian. Ionut suffocated in a container on Easter day

According to reports made by ecodibergamo.it, Ionuț had been in Italy for five years and worked occasionally as a bricklayer, together with a Romanian friend with whom he shared an apartment. His dream was to build his own house, but fate prepared a tragic and untimely end for him.

Ionuț’s brother-in-law, Gabriel Bârzava, spoke with pain about the last moments spent with the 23-year-old. According to him, Easter was celebrated in an atmosphere of joy and fun in the family garden, and Ionuț seemed to have his whole life ahead of him. In a tragic twist of fate, the young man met his end in an absurd way, losing his life in an incident.

“On Sunday we all celebrated Easter in the garden. It was a day of celebration and fun. Then, in the evening, I don’t know what came into his mind. He was only 23 years old and had a whole life ahead of him: he dreamed of having his own house and instead he died in an absurd way”, said his brother-in-law, Gabriel Bârzava.

The images captured by the surveillance cameras show that Ionuț tried to steal clothes from the container, but he got stuck and suffocated. Despite all the efforts made to free him, the young man lost the fight for his life, leaving behind an entire grieving family.

The young Romanian will be repatriated to Romania

Ionuț’s family will bring his lifeless body back to Romania, to Târgu Jiu, to pay his last respects and bury him in his native country.

Ionuț’s tragedy joins other stories of suffering from the Romanian diaspora.

“At first we all lived on the farm, then we moved into a house here. He dreamed of having a house of his own soon. Until five months ago, he sometimes did this foolish thing of going around stealing small things: in any case, he had never had any complaints. And then it stopped. Last night, though, who knows what came into his mind. For his funeral, we will take him back to Romania, to Târgu Jiu. We were informed of the tragedy by the police”, his brother-in-law also said, observatornews.ro writes.
