Nothing’s sub-brand, CMF, has already released a few budget products that seem to deliver exactly what they promise: decent performance, unusual design, and extremely low prices. The CMF headphones, charger and watch are easy to recommend to those who don’t have huge budgets for such products, and the brand’s first smartphone could occupy a similar place in the phone market. We have the first images and the first details of the first CMF by Nothing phone, and it seems to be in tune with what we’ve come to expect from the brand.

The CMF Phone 1 could be the cheapest Nothing smartphone

Even though CMF is a “Nothing” brand, it does not follow the same design lines that use transparent materials and play of lights to create an identity of its own. CMF seems to be a brand focused on the color orange, and its first phone looks like it will be exactly what we’d expect: a plastic, orange device with red accents and design elements that break this model from the already established patterns . There is a possibility to see this model with a black and white case, in addition to the orange one.

According to the first rumors, the CMF Phone 1 could be launched in India very soon, at an extremely low price: 12,000 rupees, which is around 133 euros. In comparison, Nothing’s Phone (2a), the company’s cheapest smartphone, costs twice as much, at around 300 euros.

The CMF phone is said to sport a large 6.5” screen, use a single camera on the back, and use a MediaTek Dimensity chipset with a 5G modem. This last aspect is an interesting one, as it will have to be one of the cheapest models in the range, probably one of the Dimensity 6000 series, to fit the price. Also, that screen will likely display a low resolution, or won’t go above 60Hz for the same reasons.

However, this could be a model with very good autonomy, with current rumors mentioning a 5,000 mAh battery for a phone with limited performance. Charging won’t be terribly slow either, at 33W, and this could remain one of the budget phones with three years of software support and four years of security updates, as we’ve seen on other phones from Nothing.
