A journalist with decades of experience is going through difficult times. He understands everything that is said to him, but he can only express himself with: “yes”, “of” and “aoleu”. A massive ischemic stroke necrotized two-thirds of his cerebral hemisphere.

Anca Apostol worked at Tineretul liber, Evenimentul Zilei, Cotidianul, Pro TV Magazin and at the MagnaNews website. Now, following the stroke, he has a hemiplegic right hand and right leg, with a mixed aphasia.

After months of trying to recover (he had his stroke in February), there are some good signs: He has excruciating pain in his right arm, which means he’s starting to recover and will move his hand, and his right leg is already starting to he moves a little, on reflex neuro and for a few days even more than that.

Now, she is admitted to Enayati Hospital, where her recovery continues. The costs are high, but the necessary amount can be raised: 10,000 euros for the chance to recover.

How can you specifically help?

Caught in the absurdity of state procedures: whether you recover or not, you are discharged!

The story of Anca Apostol is also the story of the absurdity of the public health system. State hospitals that is.

The massive ischemic stroke was suffered on February 2, after which Anca was stabilized at the National Institute of Neurology and Cardiovascular Diseases. He then underwent medical rehabilitation at Elias University Clinical Hospital and INRMFB (Filantropia Hospital). Here she ran into a system that prevented her from continuing her recovery.

That’s because returning to the state recovery hospital system is an adventure. According to the Health Framework Contract, a hospital cannot admit a patient for more than 2-3 weeks. If it does, the CNAS still settles only 10% of the medical services, so the state hospitals simply discharge you, as the journalist Florin Budescu, Anca Apostol’s husband, tells.

Anca is on waiting lists, at several state recovery centers, but she must recover intensively now, otherwise she will be left with the consequences, says the journalist.

The success of her recovery depends on whether she will continue her career or not, but first of all how long she will live: a post-stroke patient in Romania has an average lifespan of 3-4 years.

But we can all make a difference now, with a donation. We can help a man to talk, to move, to eat by himself, to do everything that you are going to do after reading this message, and it is “normal”.

That is why Enayati Hospital is the chance to return to a normal life for Anca Apostol.

We can raise the 10,000 euros!
