Deputy Daniel Gheba (AUR) demands transparency and real commitment from those who will represent us in the EP. “Let’s remind them that every euro of their salary comes from the hard work of taxpayers,” says the AUR representative.

“On June 9, 2024, Romanians will elect their representatives in the European Parliament.

It is a crucial day, when we must make sure that our voice is heard and that Romania’s interests are firmly defended.

European elections are not only about the number of seats or the generous salaries of MEPs. It is about electing those who will fight for the rights and well-being of Romanian citizens. We must not forget that these politicians are sent to Brussels to defend our interests, not just to benefit from colossal salaries and various benefits.

Each MEP will receive a gross monthly salary of €10,075.18, which translates into €7,853.89 net after deducting EU taxes and social security contributions. In addition, they benefit from a monthly allowance of 4,950 euros for general expenses, such as renting offices, purchasing IT equipment and other necessities.

MEPs also receive a daily allowance of 350 euros for each day spent at the European Parliament in official activity. After a 5-year mandate, they are entitled to a transitional allowance equivalent to the salary of one year of mandate, for a period of up to two years.

We demand transparency and real commitment from those who will represent us. Let’s remind them that every euro of their salary comes from the hard work of taxpayers and that every decision they make must reflect the interests of the Romanian people”, says Daniel Gheba.
