PNL will get at least 27% of Romanian votes

The first vice-president of the PNL, Rareș Bogdan, is of the opinion that the party will obtain at least 27% of Romanian votes in the local elections. He also says that the liberals will secure at least 8 MEPs.

In the same statement on Tuesday, May 7, the liberal MEP says that the PNL will register a significant increase. He says that PNL had 14% support when Nicolae Ciucă took over the party. Since then, the percentage has reached 25%.

“A year ago, or six months ago, we were considered the party that would have 14%, 12%, 16%, a disaster, today I can tell you that we will have at least 27% in the local elections, that is, in the County Council. (..) We were told that we would have 4 or 5 MEPs, now we will have at least 8 MEPs, only PNL”, said Rareş Bogdan to Digi24.

Nicole Ciucă will not go home

Asked if Nicolae Ciucă will go home if the election result is not as expected, Rareș Bogdan denied the information.

He says that there is no reason why Nicolae Ciucă should no longer be supported. Rareș Bogdan provided data on the level at which the PNL was before Nicole Ciucă became the president of the Liberals.

“Why should he go home? Nicolae Ciucă, when he took over the party, the party was rated with 14% in the polls, at this moment the party will get over 25%, he doubled the party’s score. How to go home? “Eventually, let’s support him even further, let’s thank him”, he says.

PNL only supports Nicolae Ciucă

The first vice-president of the PNL, Rareș Bogdan, clearly emphasized on Tuesday that the party unanimously supports the candidacy of Nicolae Ciucă, thus expressing its unequivocal support for him.

“The current context in which Romania finds itself, at this moment, favors Nicolae Ciucă as a candidate. Mr. Bolojan and Mr. Boc never even expressed their desire to enter the opinion polls, on the contrary, they asked us not to test them if we had such intentions,” said Rareş Bogdan.

Rareș Bogdan stated that the party exclusively supports Nicolae Ciucă. He added that in the last three weeks, Ciucă was omnipresent and that the party believes in his potential as president, expressing the belief that he would be a balanced and essential leader for Romania and for the current European context.

Rareș Bogdan confirmed again that discussions regarding the possibility of a joint candidate between PNL and PSD will begin after the June elections.

He was also asked about the possible change in the date of the presidential elections.

He said that the elections will be on September 15 and 29 and that the date will not change. He added that it is about the presidential elections, where the PNL will have a candidate.
