A man with a stroke was transferred by the SMURD helicopter to Suceava, after being refused by five clinics. No one from the Cluj University Center wanted to operate on him. The 47-year-old patient suffered an acute ischemic stroke. He was hospitalized at the County Emergency Hospital in Cluj, but was sent to the Suceava County Emergency Hospital.

The reason for the transfer was the fact that he could not be operated on in Cluj due to the lack of doctors or kits necessary to extract the clot. The patient was also refused by five other Interventional Radiology centers.
According to the spokesperson of SCJU Suceava, Dr. Dan Teodorovici at SCJU Suceava, the patient’s symptoms started at 11:30.

“Thrombolysis was performed (administration of drugs that dissolve the blood clot) at 2 p.m. at the hospital in Cluj. Because there was no significant improvement in the symptoms, it was decided to transfer the patient to the Suceava County Clinical Hospital for the extraction of the blood clot from the level of the affected cerebral vessel by the team from Interventional Radiology”, stated Dr. Dan Teodorovici.

He said that this is the first request of this kind received by SCJU Suceava from a university center. The procedure was successfully carried out successfully extracting the clot and the patient feeling very well.
The team that contributed to this success was made up of doctors from UPU, neurologist Dr. Ana Burca, anesthesiologist Dr. Tiron Crina, interventional radiologists Dr. Cătălin Lulciuc and Dr. Mircea Gabriel, assistants Serediuc and Lucanu.
“It is important to state that the patient was previously refused by 5 other interventional radiology centers either because of the lack of grouts for the intervention, or because of the lack of staff,” emphasized Dr. Dan Teodorovici, according to newsbucovina.
