A fatal railway accident occurred on Sunday morning, on DN 14, in Sibiu County, where a car was hit head-on by a train.

A serious road accident occurred today on DN14, at kilometer 27, at the railway crossing between the towns of Ruși and Șeica Mare. A 38-year-old man from Alba county lost his life after being hit by a train, writes mesageruldesibiu.ro
The first investigations show that, while driving a van from Mediaș towards Sibiu, a 38-year-old man from Alba county, alone in the car, would not have respected the meaning of the red light of the traffic light installed at the crossing, entered the path railway and was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sibiu to Mediaș.
“Police officers of the Sibiu Road Service are responding to a particularly serious accident on DN 14, kilometer 27, at the railway crossing between Ruşi and Şeica Mare localities. From the first investigations carried out, it emerged that, while driving a van from Mediaş towards Sibiu, a 38-year-old man from Alba county, alone in the car, would not have respected the meaning of the red color of the traffic light installed at the crossing, entered the railway and was hit by a passenger train traveling from Sibiu to Mediaş. The vehicle was projected off the roadway. Unfortunately, the driver died as a result of the impact. The passengers on the train and the train driver, a 64-year-old man from Cluj county, did not suffer bodily injuries. It is difficult to travel in the area”, according to IPJ Sibiu.
Three SMURD crews went to the scene of the accident, but the resuscitation maneuvers failed and the death of the driver who was in cardiorespiratory arrest was declared, according to the ISU.
