MANILA, Philippines — Senators expressed support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order for a review of the minimum wage with Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri urging him to consider certifying as urgent the P100 Daily Minimum Wage Increase Act, which has already been approved in the Senate.

Sen. Sonny Angara said the President’s move is timely since a lot of workers have long been suffering.

He said he is hoping the President’s order will be accompanied by long-term support to farmers and food industries.

Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva said he also welcomes the move by the President “to ensure that the salaries of our workers will be able to sustain their daily living.”

Following the passage of the P100 daily minimum wage rate increase bill, he said the Senate is waiting for legislative action on the part of the House of Representatives. —TINA G. SANTOS
