The PNL candidate for the Capital City Hall, Sebastian Burduja, declared on Wednesday that the biggest problem of Bucharest today is the drug phenomenon that has gotten out of control, criticizing the current mayor, Nicuşor Dan, for withdrawing the policemen from the vicinity schools, parks and public places.
“The biggest problem of Bucharest today is this drug phenomenon that has gotten out of control, especially in recent years. Somewhere over 80% of illicit drugs are consumed in Bucharest, consumption has tripled in the last 10 years. What the General City Hall can do and has not done in recent years. You have the Local Police, as an instrument of the mayor, which ensures public order. Nicusor Dan withdrew the policemen from the vicinity of the schools, he withdrew the policemen from the parks and public places”, said Sebastian Burduja on Antena 3.
The PNL candidate for the Capital City Hall also said that a video monitoring system can be made in the sensitive areas of the Capital, where such transactions generally happen. Burduja stated that you have to do one more thing, which is not necessarily related to the consumption of drugs, but also to the way Bucharest looks.
“You are obliged to rehabilitate the dilapidated houses in this city where today they are hotbeds for drug dealers and drug users”, he emphasized. “The drug problem cannot be solved overnight and by a single institution. When I refer to the General City Hall, you must have a person of dialogue, who can team up with the Minister of the Interior and the National Anti-Drug Agency, and the Ministry of Education for prevention programs, and the Ministry of Health,” stressed Burduja.
Sebastian Burduja criticized Nicuşor Dan for the way the city center looks, stating that the general mayor “doesn’t take care of the simple things”.
