20% lower prices for plane tickets purchased between April 30 and May 7, 2024, provided that the travel period falls between May 15 and June 30, 2024.
The offer comes from Tarom, a company that entered its 17th year of losses, and the discounted plane tickets are for all destinations.
“Through the offer valid for eight days, between April 30 and May 7, 2024, you can purchase plane tickets at 20% reduced prices on all basic fares, with checked baggage included. The travel period is ideal: May 15 – June 30 (date of the last return), so, regardless of the destination you choose, you will not experience the tourist overcrowding in August, the holiday month, and you will also avoid the insanely hot days of Month of July. Fares without checked baggage are not included in the offer, and the discount is applied to the fare, adding the related taxes to the resulting amount,” the company announced.
The offer with a 20% discount on plane tickets is applied on domestic routes, but also on routes between Romania and foreign destinations, only on flights operated by the TAROM company.
Tickets are available for sale on the company’s website, as well as in TAROM agencies or accredited agents.
The government is looking for investors for TAROM
The government is desperate to save TAROM, which has been in financial trouble for several years, and is trying to convince major Gulf airlines to buy a stake in the national airline.
The European Union no longer allocates funds through operational programs, so the Romanian state is forced to look for alternatives. One option would be to attract private investors.
The government is negotiating with two companies from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, Qatar Airways and Emirates Airways, respectively, to sell a stake in TAROM. In exchange for the investment, Arab companies could contribute to the construction of a new terminal at Otopeni Airport.
