An extremely active presence in the last meetings of the Sibiu Local Council, a structure for which he submitted his candidacy in the June 9 elections on the AUR lists, Marian Răduinea was targeted by searches by Sibiu prosecutors on Monday morning. At the same time, the offices of three officers from the management of IPJ Sibiu were searched, suspected of divulging service secrets to Răduinea, dismissed from the traffic police many years before. The searches also targeted a young man from the AUR candidate’s entourage, accused of fraud.

The descents of the Sibiu prosecutors took place on Monday morning, in two files between which the main connection is Marian Răduinea, according to the information confirmed for Turnul Sfatului by sources close to the investigations: former traffic policeman, from where he was dismissed for several years following a scandal related to the taxis whose licenses belonged to his family, Răduinea registered in AUR and is running for a seat in the Sibiu Local Council. In one of the files, a young man from Răduinea’s “restricted entourage” is being prosecuted for the crime of blackmail, and in the second, along with the AUR candidate, three officers from the leadership of the Police Inspectorate of Sibiu County are also being prosecuted. This second file describes scenarios of humiliation inspired, as it were, from the movies.

Three officers from the management of IPJ Sibiu

This morning’s searches also took place in the IPJ Sibiu headquarters, the Sibiu prosecutors announce. “The case prosecutor, together with police workers from the Internal Control Directorate of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, supported by rapid intervention workers from the Special Actions Service of IPJ Sibiu, executed four home search warrants at the address in municipality of Sibiu, county of Sibiu, of a male person, aged 47, former police officer from the Road Bureau of the Police of the Municipality of Sibiu, but also at the offices of three police officers from the management of IPJ Sibiu, suspected of committing the crime of divulging secret service or non-public information”, reads the press release sent to the readers of Turnul Sfatului by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sibiu Court.

Basically, the prosecutors are investigating how the three officers in the management of IPJ Sibiu would have transmitted to Răduinea service secrets or information not intended for publicity (a crime punishable by imprisonment from three months to three years or a fine). At the same time, Răduinea is being investigated because, having become aware of these service secrets, he would have divulged them further (a crime punishable by imprisonment from one month to one year or a fine).

The prosecutors show – without mentioning the name of Marian Răduinea – that “the 47-year-old male person, assuming the role of a so-called judicial officer, began to constantly carry out activities to denigrate the judicial bodies, but also of other public institutions, by publishing on their own Facebook page, several data or information that do not correspond to reality or even some real data and information, but which, through a tendentious interpretation, led to the shaping of a wrong public perception of some states , situations or circumstances related to the normal functioning of the public institutions denigrated, especially institutions within the judicial system (police, prosecutor’s offices and courts)”.

Based on the “service secret or not intended for publicity” information that he allegedly received from the three officers, Răduinea published various data on social networks about planned control plans or disciplinary investigations, for example. “… in the period February 2023 – April 2024, he disclosed to the public such secret service or non-public data and information, through posts on his own Facebook page, accompanied by comments capable of outlining unreal states, situations or circumstances with the aim to denigrate the leadership of judicial bodies”, the prosecutors write about Răduinea.

The daughter of a former commissioner, used to lure the son of the head of the IPJ for the purpose of compromise

Although the facts are not sanctioned with heavy penalties, the prosecutors decided to describe some of the methods that Răduinea is suspected of using “in his attempt to denigrate the judicial system”. “The former policeman resorted to the creation of fictitious situations with implications on the prestige of the institutions, and his activity to get in contact with another former police officer and to cite alleged evidence to discredit the chief inspector of IPJ Sibiu through the prism of the existence alleged deficiencies in the upbringing and education of his 15-year-old minor son”, the press release of the Sibiu Prosecutor’s Office states.

The prosecutors describe how Marian Răduinea planned to denigrate Tiberiu Ivancea, head of the IPJ Sibiu, by exposing his youngest son to at least reprehensible situations, artificially created situations. The daughter of a former IPJ Sibiu officer, in Răduinea’s close circle, would have participated in one of these scenarios.

“In the first decade of April 2024, the former traffic agent and the former officer of IPJ Sibiu agreed that the daughter of the latter, aged approximately 15 years, would approach the youngest son of the chief inspector of IPJ Sibiu and collect various information from that minor in order to succeed in defaming the police chief. Also, during those discussions, the former police commissioner agreed to get his minor daughter to get close to the minor son of the chief inspector of IPJ Sibiu and draw him into certain compromising surroundings, on which occasion he would record those moments , and then to hand over the records to her father, who will pass them on to the former traffic officer for publication on his Facebook page,” the prosecutors describe.

Scenarios: drugs and accidents caused

The prosecutors say that they decided to give details from this file “for a correct information of the public opinion on the constant risks to which the members and leaders of some public institutions, especially those in the judicial system, are subjected, when, by virtue of their duties, end up contributing to the destruction of some criminal activities”.

And among the details given to the public is the scenario that Marian Răduinea would have set up with another traffic police officer, who is currently being sued for acts of corruption.

“In order to carry out his vile plan, during discussions with another traffic police officer, the former traffic police officer stated that he would cause an alleged drug trafficker from the area of Sibiu, known to this former police officer, to to corrupt and convince the minor son of the chief inspector of IPJ Sibiu to buy prohibited substances, and then he will do the “flagrant” for him”, is one of the plans that the prosecutors say they found out to have been set up by Răduinea .

Another plan in the same register also involves causing an accident, to expose the scenario according to which the son of the head of the IPJ would drive cars even though he is not of legal age. “Totally wrongly believing that the Chief Inspector’s minor son had previously driven the Mini Cooper owned by the Police Inspector, the ex-traffic officer stated that he would track down the Chief Inspector’s family’s BMW and if he found that the car is driven by a minor, he will intentionally hit that car, being indifferent to him, in such a hypothesis, that he will injure or kill someone”, the prosecutors also state.

“Close Entourage” Deception

Also on the morning of Monday, the prosecutors opened another file, which is related to Marian Răduinea because the person concerned is a 27-year-old young man from the “close entourage” of the former policeman, the prosecutors say.

Four searches were carried out at the residences of three people in Sibiu, suspected of being authors and accomplices of a scam, respectively.

“During the summer of 2023, a 27-year-old male person, by presenting false facts as true – namely that his company is a serious business partner and as such can be trusted to conclude a contract of supplying petroleum products, although, in reality, this company did not carry out any commercial activity, let alone one involving the consumption of fossil fuels – led a director of a company supplying petroleum products from Sibiu to enter into a contract supply of petroleum products. On the basis of this contract, appreciable quantities of petroleum products were delivered, totaling over 52,000 lei, products which, benefiting from the contribution of the other two accomplices, were then used by the perpetrator to several people, and, in the end, these products did not were paid to the misled supplier,” state prosecutors.

GOLD candidate

Turnul Sfatului tried to get in touch with Marian Răduinea in order to request a reaction as a result of the searches and the prosecutors’ statement, but until the publication of this material he could not be contacted by means of remote communication.

Marian Răduinea has become an almost constant presence at the meetings of the Sibiu Local Council, at the end of which she speaks on various topics, which she then promotes through the accounts she manages on various social media accounts.

Răduinea’s name also appears on the lists of AUR candidates for the Sibiu Local Council, in fourth position. Deputy Sebastian Suciu, president of AUR Sibiu and candidate for Sibiu City Hall, did not respond to Turnul Sfatului’s request to comment on the situation in which the AUR candidate, Marian Răduinea, is.

After the publication of this article, a press conference on this topic was organized at the AUR headquarters.
