The former right-back of Farul Constanța Răzvan Farmache, now 45 years old, was invited by the seaside club to give the symbolic kick-off in the match at home with Rapid Bucharest, won by the “sailors” 3-1 .
Răzvan Farmache wore the blue-white shirt in over 150 matches and has priceless memories from Farul, the team he played for for five years, between 2003 and 2008. The seaside team transferred him from Sportul Studențesc. “Marcel Lică was president at Farul at the time. I was in discussions with Rapid, I was in the training camp with them, but the negotiations between the two owners did not materialize. Then came the offer from Farul and I didn’t think twice, I gladly accepted. It was a nice period, with good results for those years, considering that there were very good teams in the championship, who had valuable players, in the national teams. I made a good figure, playing in the final of the Romanian Cup and the final of the UEFA-Intertoto Cup”, said Răzvan Farmache, on Farul TV.
The two finals
The match with Dinamo, in the Cup final, and the double with Auxerre, in the UEFA-Intertoto Cup final, are the former defender’s fondest memories at Farul. “These were the best results. It’s a pity that we didn’t manage to win any dispute with the two opponents, we were very close. With Dinamo we were led from the 10th minute, then we dominated an opponent who had very good players. However, we didn’t have a chance and we didn’t manage to draw even a tie and send the match to overtime or go to penalties. In the double with Auxerre, after 1-4 in the round, came the return from Constanța, in which we played a good match. The stadium being full, we had the support of the people of Constanta, who came in large numbers. I led and, from what I remember, Guriță had about two opportunities, through which we could come back and take the match to extra time”, said Răzvan Farmache, according to the quoted source.
Friends, both on and off the field
The former footballer says that he and his colleagues from that time formed a united group at the Lighthouse. “It was a very good group of players, I think that was when we reached our maximum potential as a team. We were friends, both on and off the field. There were beautiful moments, but they passed, and now we see each other under different conditions. In general, I played on all coaches. I tried to do my job as well as possible on the field. I think that’s why I evolved, I think I have over 150 matches. There were coaches with whom I collaborated OK, Petre Grigoraș, Ion Marin. Among my former colleagues, I still hear from Pașcovici and Lungu, with Senin less often. I also have a few goals, but I was more of a defensive player, I tried to respect what the coaches asked of us then. I think my most important match was the one against Dinamo in the Cup final. It was a game in which you really feel like a footballer, when an entire stadium is with you”, points out Răzvan Farmache.
He has a football school in Uziceni and also plays in the 4th League
Currently, he is involved in the football project from Urziceni. “Once I hung up my boots, I didn’t stay away from football. At the moment, I am in Urziceni, I have my football school, we have a team in the 4th League. We are in partnership with the City Hall, we are trying to develop football there. Since the disappearance of Unirii Urziceni, football has practically ceased to exist there. We tried to bring the pitch to a level as good as possible for the 4th League. We are trying to make a team with players from the area and surrounding areas. I also play for 35-40 minutes, depending on the need or the other colleagues who cannot come because of work. When they are absent, I have to enter the field. But it’s hard for me, because age doesn’t forgive anyone”, said the former farist.
“They fully deserved to win the trophy”
The conquest of the champion trophy by Farul Constanța last season brought great satisfaction to Răzvan Farmache. “I was very happy for Farul. They fully deserved to win the trophy. It’s a pity that in the European cups they didn’t manage to go further, in the groups”, mentioned Răzvan Farmache.
