“Island of 1 million”, the reality show on Kanal D that wanted to be one of the “pillars” of the Turkish station, totally disappointed! But we don’t say it, but the audiences who speak for themselves. We have the bombshell details! The bosses took a trip to the Dominican Republic to revive the show, which was on the rocks!
On March 16, Kanal D announced with trumpets and trumpets the premiere of the show “Island of 1 million”. Filmed on a spectacular island in the Dominican Republic, the reality show wanted to be one of the mainstays of the station, a big audience generator. The calculation at home did not match the one at the fair, unfortunately.
The Turks chose Cosmin Cernat as presenter, hoping that he would attract a large audience, and brought 50 participants, aspiring to the grand prize of 1,000,000 lei. They brought in artists like Armin Nicoară, they “resurrected” competitors from similar shows, such as Jaguaru, and they also opted for influencers from the online environment, such as Lemnaru Ștefan Iulian, Andrei Gogan’s ex-boyfriend. Maybe, just maybe, the online celebrity audience will move to TV. They even chose a dream location in which they invested serious millions of euros! Hoping that the Republic will bring them luck, as it was the case of their number 1 competition, Survivor, which won over viewers this season, the Turks opted for the same kind of concept. The plans of the producers did not materialize according to expectations, however!
Although they invested several million euros, both in the production itself and in the salaries of the employees, the show was destined to fail. Our sources say that reporters, editors and cameramen were paid good money on the project shot in the Dominican Republic, but even so, it seems, their efforts were in vain and the results were contrary to expectations.

What the show’s audiences look like

On Monday, April 8, the registered share did not jump by 6.9, and the average rating was 2.4. Yes, you read that right, 2.4! As a comparison, another post recorded a maximum share of 17.7, in the same time slot, 20:00-23:00. Although the differences are already big, we tell you that 6.9 is still an “honorable” share compared to what followed!
On Saturday, April 13, between 21:00-23:30, the show made an almost equally bad impression, as the share did not jump 7.3, and the lowest score recorded was even 4! While Antena 1 recorded, for example, a maximum of 21.7, the Turkish show was broadcast on Saturdays.
On Sunday, April 14, the registered share was a maximum of 6.6, and the rating was 2.8. For the investment made, these values are extraordinarily small.
Last Saturday, April 20, the share of the show had moments of 4.4 and did not jump from 6.3, the rating being only 2.3! Again, absolutely catastrophic results for a show that promised so much when it launched, which is only a month and a half ago! In just a few weeks, everything has fallen unimaginably far.
Last Sunday, April 21, the share reached, alas, 10, and the rating reached 3.1, but only for 15 minutes, so the reasons for joy are not really that great!
Code red in Kanal D! The bosses have taken flight!
Seeing that the show is in total decline, Kanal bosses themselves packed their bags and rushed to the Dominican Republic to see what caused such low ratings! Being taken by surprise by the amazingly small results, the higher-ups of the station wanted to see for themselves that the employees were doing their job as per the book. They even worked side by side with the subordinates to bring the “Island of 1 million” back to life! No success, unfortunately! When it’s not going to be, there’s no point!
Despite all the efforts, the show doesn’t seem to be growing at all in the eyes of the viewers! Our sources claim that, having nowhere to take off their shirts, the employees, bosses and all the competitors would have returned to Romania last week. Most likely, the grand finale will air much sooner than originally anticipated. Just as it happened in the case of other productions, such as “Bravo, you have style!” or “Teo Show”, it is possible that the show will end suddenly and without much explanation given to the viewers due to the lack of audience.
