In third place in the list of candidates for the European Parliament from the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), lawyer Gheorghe Piperea has an impressive fortune. Seven plots of land, five houses, luxury watches, millions of lei in accounts and a loan for his own company of 750,000 euros.

Thus, the lawyer owns three inner-city plots in Bucharest, one plot in Curtea de Argeș, one inner-city plot in Singureni Giurgiu commune and two others in the outskirts of the town.

In terms of real estate, Piperea owns a “house demolished in 2012” in Bucharest, an apartment also in the Capital, two other houses in Bucharest with an area of ​​766 and 93 square meters, an inherited house in Curtea de Argeș and another house in Singureni, Giurgiu “given in freehold for life”.

Luxury watches

The Piperea family jewels have an estimated value of 5000 euros. In addition to them, the lawyer owns a Ulysse Nardin watch worth 7,500 euros, a women’s watch with the same brand worth 11,000 euros, but also a collection of paintings by Romanian painters estimated at 10,000 euros.

In 2023, Piperea opened a bank account with 1,800,000 lei. His wife, Anca Piperea, has 800,000 lei in an account opened also in 2023. Another bank account opened by the candidate in 2022 contains a deposit of 632,000 lei.

Pepper also has shares in companies. Thus, together with his wife, he owns 99% of the company SC Agricooltural Singureni SRL, shares worth 446,000 lei.

His wife owns 50% of the company SC Real Estate and Turn Around Management SRL, shares worth 1,590,540 lei.

The two companies in which the Pipereaus are shareholders were lent 750,000 euros by them in the case of Agricooltural Singureni SRL and 175,000 euros in the case of SC Real Estate.

Piperea’s in-laws were also loaned 118,500 US dollars.

The debts of the Piperea family to the banks are in the total amount of 1,580,000 lei, another 200,000 lei being contracted to acquaintances of the family.

Professor, lawyer, insolvency expert

Last year, Piperea earned 129,000 lei from the Faculty of Law in Bucharest, and his wife 175,000 lei for the position of director of the Legal Department of Unicredit Leasing.

From the Piperea si Asociații law firm, the AUR candidate collected 2,254,903 lei last year, and as a coordinating partner of the Rom Insolv Piperea insolvency firm, he also collected 874,000 lei net.

Pepper rose to prominence during the pandemic for his anti-vaccine views. Last December, the AUR leadership appointed lawyer Gheorghe Piperea as the campaign coordinator for the European Parliament elections.

In April 2023, Piperea publicly complained that only two students came to his course at the Faculty of Law, out of the 220 he expected. “The whole world hates me and I don’t know why,” Piperea victimized herself.

Piperea submitted his declarations of assets and interests, mandatory documents for candidates in the European Parliament and local elections.
