According to observernews, in Valcanesti, Prahova, it rained so much that the streets turned into real rivers. Residents saw with their own eyes how three parked cars were simply swept away by the flood and carried away for a distance of about one kilometer.

After a torrential storm hit the area, the Sărata stream burst its banks, furiously flooding the surrounding lands and completely covering this bridge. According to the aforementioned source, the violent flood caused massive destruction, overturning everything in its path.

Sustained efforts by emergency teams were needed to save the cars from the swirling waters. In the entire county, an orange code for rain, thunderstorms and hail was established, and an orange flood code was also issued during the evening.

The authorities sent RO-Alert messages to warn the population to stay indoors and protect themselves in the face of imminent danger.

“I haven’t seen it since I’ve been here, the water came up to the corner of my house! Everything I had in the garden was destroyed. The trees no longer have leaves, all the fruits that were there have fallen, the vine has finished it, onions, carrots, potatoes, everything.”, said a local, according to observernews.

The rains also fell in other counties in the country

The unstable and capricious weather also caused considerable damage in Dâmbovița County, where torrential rain and hail devastated gardens and covered roads with a thick layer of ice, turning the landscape into a winter scene detached from summer.

In Mehedinți, Sălaj and Arad counties, several communities witnessed whole minutes of chaos, in which the ice fell incessantly. Meteorologists yesterday issued no less than 34 warnings of hailstorms, torrential rains, thunder and lightning for the areas of Oltenia, Banat and Transylvania, once again emphasizing the unpredictability and severity of the weather during this period.
