A man who ran a red light in the area of Pieţa Ştefan cel Mare in Cluj-Napoca was hit by two cars.
The man, a citizen of Sri Lanka, was on the scooter at the time of the impact.
In a video posted on the Facebook page Info Trafic Cluj-Napoca, the intervention of police officers and doctors can be seen in the intersection of Piața Avram Iancu, the National Theatre, corner with the Cluj Courthouse. A citizen of Sri Lanka who was driving a scooter and entered the intersection on red light was allegedly hit by a car that had started at the intersection.
The driver says he didn’t notice the scooter rider or realize what happened, initially.
“On April 23, at around 10:50 p.m., a traffic accident was registered at the intersection between Piața Ștefan cel Mare and Bulevardul Eroilor in Cluj-Napoca.
From the first investigations carried out, it emerged that a 22-year-old foreign citizen, who was driving a moped from Timotei Cipariu Square, would have entered the intersection with Bulevardul Eroilor on a red light, being hit by a car, driven by a 65-year-old man, and then another car.
Following the event, the driver of the moped was stuck under the second car, being extracted by ISU Cluj crews, and then transported to the hospital for further investigations.
The three drivers were tested with the breathalyzer, the results were negative. In the case, investigations are being carried out under the aspect of the crime of culpable bodily harm”, informed IPJ Cluj.
