The young woman told in a video on TikTok how difficult it was for her to settle in France and how distant the French seem to her. The Romanian said that she lived abroad for more than a year, where she studied and worked, during which she realized that it is very difficult to make French friends.

The young woman complained about how hard it is to make friends in France

“I lived in France for a year or so, during which time I also went to university and worked. So I had the opportunity to interact in various social contexts and it was very difficult for me to make French friends. And even though I have some French friends and they are good, even they have come to the conclusion that it is very difficult to make friends in this country. Even with Romanians who grew up or spent a lot of time in France, it was very difficult for me to interact. That’s why all my friends in France were international,” she said.

“For example, when I was in college, I had online classes and I became friends with a colleague whose girlfriend was also Romanian. The two invited me to their home, where I brought them some sarmals I made and I socialized, but after the weekend at school I had a shock. They were in front of the faculty with a group of colleagues, so I greeted them and they turned their backs on me instead of calling me sit with them or introduce me to the group.”

“I’m not interested in making more friends”

The girl had a shock when she found out why she was being ignored by the colleagues with whom she had just become friends. His colleague explained to him that he has had the same friends since childhood and that it is not interesting to meet new people.

“After several episodes like this, I finally asked them why they behaved like that when they were with a group of friends, because individually they weren’t bad people. Then they all explained the same thing to me: ” I’ve had the same friends since I was little, there are the same 10-20 people since I’ve known myself. I’m not interested in making any more friends.”

And this combined with the way they are raised from a young age, i.e. they are taught to only interact with people in their very close circle, namely family and schoolmates, they naturally just have an unconscious revulsion towards everything what’s new”, said the young woman.

@bianca__sis I could do a whole series about life in France, I don’t think anyone has the patience to hear it :)))))) Life in France is not for the faint of heart, that’s clear. erasmus student biancasis_tips storytime france francezi franceza ♬ original sound – Bianca Sis
