Dead body on USARB campus. Students attended a practical lesson

It all took place during a practical criminology class, attended by students from the USARB law school, reports Stiri.md with reference to Tvn.md.

“I had a few theoretical classes, but somehow it’s more interesting to see in practice the moments of on-site research, how tracks are taken, how they are detected, all the ways they put into practice. I feel that such activities would be very beneficial for the students,” said one student.

“Such public classes allow those theoretical nuances that we acquire in lessons and seminars to be applied in a practical aspect. We have gained experience in fingerprints, traces of a crime, but also other practical aspects,” said another student.

During this class, students had the opportunity to put into practice what they had learned for two months in classrooms and seminars.

“I attended a practical class with the generic: On-scene investigation and evidence management, in crimes involving the use of firearms. We tried to show the students how to take DNA samples, fingerprints, how to pick up firearms, tube cartridges. We picked up a shoe trace using the plaster cast method,” said Alexei Mitriniuc, a forensic expert.

“It’s a crime scene, an alleged murder. All the stages were presented, as the students how it is done and last but not least to highlight and promote the profession of forensic expert. It is often said that education in the Republic of Moldova is very theorized, what we are doing now is to step forward, to establish points between theory and practice. To make it interesting for them”, said Ina Idinokaia, head of the law department, USARB.

Forensics is a branch of forensic science that deals with the investigation of crimes. The main purpose of forensics is to use scientific and technological methods to collect, analyze and interpret physical and circumstantial evidence in relation to a crime.
