There will be a warning strike today in health. 20 thousand employees from over 300 hospitals in the country will stop work for one hour and will go out in front of the medical units. People demand higher wages and better working conditions.
The trade unionists say that the protest will respect the legal provisions: doctors will provide emergencies and a third of the activity, but the treatments and operations scheduled between 12:00 and 13:00 will be postponed.
Hospital employees will protest in the courtyards of medical facilities or in hospital corridors. More than 20 thousand nurses, nurses, doctors and stretcher bearers are joining the warning strike, the first of its kind launched in the last decade.
The medical activity will be stopped for an hour, between 12-13. Scheduled consultations or certain interventions will be postponed.
“In the case of employees who work in the UPU, in the emergency area, they will not participate in the strike and that third will be ensured by law, within a section, compartment, obviously, the specialist doctor being the one who will decide which of the employees will stay at work”, explained Gabriel Predică, vice-president of Solidaritatia Sanităra.
The members of the Sanitary Solidarity Federation are waiting for an answer from the government to avoid a general strike in the medical system. They are asking for a basic salary increase of up to 25% this year.
“We continue to support the legitimate demands of all health employees, the most important of which are aimed at increasing real salary incomes, indexing incomes with the level of inflation”, said Răzvan Zbîrlea, representative of the Health Solidarity Federation.
Recently, the Government approved the salary increase in the medical system by up to 30% for nurses and by up to 20% for administrative staff.
