The “Elite Neon Cup” tournament, held in Athens, has among its participants the U14 team from the FC Bihor Academy. It has admirable developments in an international event.
This tournament is a prestigious one, attended this year by the teams of important European football academies such as Red Bull Salzburg, AEK Athens, Olympiacos Piraeus, Oxford United, Panathinaikos Athens, FC Twente or FC Liverpool. The young players of FC Bihor, under the guidance of the coach Sorin Pop and the coordinator of the Junior Center Stelian Farcău, did admirably on the first day being tied with Oxford United, score 0-0, and Olympiacos Piraeus, score 2-2. On the second day, FC Bihor struck, managing to beat the group leader, Alexandros Kilkis Academy FC, with a score of 4-1, the scorers being Raul Paul, twice, Casian Lăzău and Denis Gal. Thus the team qualified from the first position in the upper phase of this prestigious competition. In the group, FC Bihor eliminated renowned teams such as those of the Oxford United academies, respectively Olympiacos Piraeus, with over 100 years of tradition in the king’s sport. The ranking of Group H was led by FC Bihor with 5 points, followed by Alexandros Kilkis Academy FC, with 4 points, Oxford United, with 2 points, and Olympiacos Piraeus, with a single point. Yesterday, after the closing of the edition, the red-blues played the first eliminatory match in the upper phase of the competition. Over time, the “Elite Neon Cup” has been attended by teams representing clubs with strong international resonance, such as: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, FC Copenhagen, Galatasaray Istanbul, Juventus Turin, Manchester City, AC Milan, Paris SG , Partizan Belgrade, PAOK Thessaloniki or Vitesse Arnheim.
