An inspector from ITM Buzau was detained by the prosecutors, in a case of giving and receiving bribes, as a result of issuing some favorable conclusions to the administrator of a company in which a work accident resulting in the death of a person was registered.
According to the daily newspaper Jurnalul de Buzau, judicial police officers from the General Anticorruption Directorate – County Anticorruption Service, under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office next to the Buzau Court, executed three search warrants on the residences of a labor inspector from the Territorial Labor Inspectorate ( ITM) Buzau, the Safety and Health at Work department, to an administrator of a commercial company, as well as to a secondary office, in a case concerning the commission of the crimes of bribery and bribery.
“On 27.03.2024, the prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office next to the Buzau Court ordered the measure of detention for a period of 24 hours against the labor inspector from ITM Buzau. On 28.03.2024, the prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office next to the Buzau Court requested the Buzau Court to order the measure of preventive arrest for 25 days against the labor inspector from ITM Buzau for committing the crime of bribery, as well as against the company administrator commercial for committing the crime of bribery”, the quoted source said.
“From the research, it emerged that, on August 8, 2023, as an administrator of a logging company, he would have improperly coordinated the authorized works, in a prosecutor’s office in the outskirts of the Gura Teghii commune, in the sense that measures would not have been taken to demarcate and signal the place where the forest exploitation was carried out. In this context, through the improper handling of an excavator by another employee, on the instructions of the 55-year-old man, he allegedly felled a tree.
In falling, the tree allegedly surprised and fatally injured a 36-year-old man from Covasna. The police established that, on the date of the event, the man who would have handled the excavator would not have been employed with the fulfillment of the legal conditions, would not have had the qualification nor the mandatory specific training in the line of health and safety at work. Later, the investigated man would have determined a 25-year-old man, from Covasna, to retroactively draw up the individual employment contract and a health and safety training sheet in the name of the person who would have handled the exploitation equipment. The documents would have been backdated, in order to create the appearance that the man was employed on the date of the incident”, stated IPJ Buzau.
