A woman lost her life and five other people were injured following a traffic accident on Thursday morning, on DJ 552, between Bucovăţ and Terpeziţa. After the first investigations, the Dolje police established that the accident was caused by a 46-year-old driver, who entered the opposite direction and hit a car traveling in the opposite direction. As a result of the impact, one of the cars caught fire.
According to the law enforcement officers, a 46-year-old man from Dolje is responsible for the accident.
“A 46-year-old man, from the commune of Verbiţa, while driving a car on DJ 552, from the direction of Terpeziţa towards Bucovăţ, for reasons to be determined following the investigations, would have entered the opposite direction of travel and would have collided with a car driven by a 26-year-old man from Salcuta commune. The road accident resulted in the death of a 36-year-old woman from Salcuta commune, a passenger in the second car, as well as the injury of the drivers and three other passengers, aged between 17 and 66, from both cars”, explained the law enforcement officers.
The Dolje firefighters intervened with a fire truck, an extrication truck and a SMURD ambulance. An ambulance from the Dolj Ambulance Service was also sent to the scene of the accident. The doctors could not do anything for the 36-year-old woman. The five injured people were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
The policemen also specified that a criminal file was drawn up for committing the crimes of culpable homicide and culpable bodily injury.
