The government maintains the cap on energy prices until the end of March 2025. After that, the market will be gradually liberalized until the caps are completely removed only at the end of March 2026.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, at the beginning of the Government meeting: “It is normal to take into account the trend of reducing energy and gas prices at the European level”
“Today we go one step further and modify the ceilings in favor of consumers. It is normal to take into account the trend of reducing energy and gas prices at the European level. And we also ensure that the return to the free market is phased until 2026, with fair prices for Romanians”, said the Prime Minister on Thursday, at the beginning of the Government meeting.
In addition, the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, specified that he proposed the elimination of the tax per sister for prosumers
“We proposed the repeal of the possibility of imposing that tax on the sun, the repeal of the article that, from 2026, would have given the NRA the possibility to impose a tax on prosumers. We encourage the phenomenon of prosumers. There are, today, over 120,000 prosumers in Romania, with an installed power of over 1500 megawatts”, said the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.
