The search for survivors was suspended Tuesday evening in Baltimore, after the collapse of the bridge in the port of this city in the eastern United States, the six people reported missing being presumed dead, announced a coast guard official, writes AFP.
“Based on the length of the search (…), the temperature of the water, we currently do not believe we will find these individuals still alive,” said Vice Admiral Shannon Gilreath during a press conference.
Synergy Marine Group said that the Singaporean-flagged transport ship ‘Dali’ hit one of the piers of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The registered owner of the vessel is Grace Ocean Pte. Ltd. and the manager is Synergy Marine.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge, which is 2.57 kilometers long, was put into operation in 1977; the costs of its construction were estimated at 60.3 million dollars.
