George Simion, the leader of the AUR, declared on Tuesday, March 26, at the Parliament, that his formation is considering and will propose to other political forces, to boycott the local elections, if the AUR project regarding two rounds of voting in the local elections is not adopted by the Parliament . Simion says that without a two-round election the results of the vote will not reflect the will of the voters.

“The state is captured considering that the draft law submitted by the AUR and announced by the secretary of the Chamber, Geanina Şerban, has no chance of being adopted in this legislature in which the County Councils, town halls, justice, information services, CCR, The People’s Advocate, everything is under the control of the merged party, we take into account and will propose to other political forces, to boycott the local elections, in one form or another.

Because, without elections in two rounds, in fact, there is no hope of democratically winning a mayor’s office, given the way, from Alfred Simonis to all the other PSD barons, the mayors are bought piecemeal,” said George Simion in a press conference.

The President of the AUR specified that the decisions taken by the governors do not comply with the norms imposed at the European level regarding the organization of elections in a democratic way.

“We are willing to make extreme, but democratic gestures, to show our disapproval. Just like that, let’s have an electoral legislation and not take into account either the Venice Commission or any other rule of common sense? Could it be to end up boycotting the illegal and unconstitutional elections of June 9”, George Simion also said.

He also stated that in the common plenum the AUR parliamentarians are again denied the right to have a representative in the SRI control committee.

“We haven’t had it since November, we were refused several times by Mr. Simonis. I came with another proposal, Mr. Badiu”, said the AUR leader, specifying that the answer received was that I make too many proposals and cannot accept this.
