Romania receives the visit of Northern Ireland at the “National Arena”, on Friday, from 9:45 p.m., in the first preparation test of the tricolors before EURO 2024. The game is broadcast exclusively on Prima TV and online on PrimaPlay.ro.
Romania’s national team begins preparation for EURO 2024 with an important test against Northern Ireland. The Tricolors qualified for EURO 2024 from the position of unbeaten leader of the group that also included Switzerland, Israel, Belarus, Kosovo and Andorra.
Its direct opponent is a team that Romania has met several times over time. The last two meetings took place in 2020, when the two combatants faced off in group 1 of the Nations League. Both matches ended in a draw, score 1-1.
In 2014 and 2015, there were two more direct meetings between Romania and Northern Ireland, this time the two teams were part of group F for qualifying for EURO 2016. A friendly match was played in 2006, won by Romania 2-0, and in 1984 and 1985, the national team of our country was defeated twice by Ireland in the group for the World Cup qualification. The two games ended with the score of 1-0 and 3-2 respectively for Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland failed to qualify for EURO 2024, after only finishing 5th in a group that also included Denmark, Slovenia, Finland, Kazakhstan and San Marino.
However, the national team trained by O’Neil managed to beat Denmark, a team that qualified for the final summer tournament from the leading position.
