The war for the development of Artificial Intelligence has begun. Apple is recruiting dozens of experts from Google to expand its AI division and recently created a “secret” lab in Zurich.
The progress of tech giants will influence political, economic, social decisions. A Financial Times analysis, based on hundreds of LinkedIn profiles, shows that the company has invested about $2.7 billion in recruitment in recent years. Analyzing the profiles of the employees, it is observed that they have advanced skills in the field of Artificial Intelligence, which indicates to us that the iPhone manufacturer is preparing significant changes in the near future for the integration of AI programs in its production.
Also, although most of the team working in the field of Artificial Intelligence is located in offices in California and Seattle, Apple decided to create a “secret” laboratory in Zurich, which will become an important support for the company.
Professor Luc Van Gool of ETH Zurich University noted that this decision is a consequence of the acquisition of two local start-ups in the AI industry – virtual reality group FaceShift and image recognition company Fashwell. Therefore, Apple is determined to expand its production and is definitely preparing major upgrades in the near future.
