Samsung has decided to keep the same battery capacity and charging speed for its new Galaxy S25 Ultra model, according to sources close to component suppliers.
This suggests a cost-cutting strategy to keep prices competitive in the flagship market, thereby avoiding price increases that could affect demand.
The 5000mAh battery that was originally introduced in the Galaxy S21 Ultra series will not support faster charging than the current 45W threshold in the S25 Ultra model. The information obtained contradicts previous rumors that indicated the possibility of using the Samsung Trio 65W adapter, a preferred option for laptops, in the upcoming smartphone model.
It seems that the 65W fast charging functionality could be delayed for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is expected to use a dual-cell Li-ion battery, a technology that allows for increased charging speeds. This technique is already implemented by other smartphone manufacturers, some even offering charging speeds of up to 120W.

Samsung’s decision to keep the battery specs for the S25 Ultra may be partly influenced by the increased costs associated with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. While this choice may reduce initial costs, it could compromise the model’s competitiveness against other flagships that offer larger capacity batteries and faster charging speeds.
Furthermore, Qualcomm has suggested that Snapdragon 8 Gen 4-equipped devices should use 5500mAh batteries to compensate for the increased power consumption.
If Samsung decides to ignore this recommendation, there could be a noticeable difference between the performance of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and other top devices in terms of battery life and energy efficiency.
