Samsung recently revealed that the much-awaited One UI 6.1 update will only be available for select Galaxy devices. This news disappointed many users of older devices who were hoping to benefit from the new AI features such as AI wallpaper, search circle, generative editing, chat support and live translation.
List of Galaxy devices that will not receive One UI 6.1
Although Samsung has not released an official list yet, taking into account the history of One UI updates, it can be deduced that the following series of Galaxy devices will not receive the One UI 6.1 update:
- Galaxy S Series: S20, S10, S9 and earlier releases
- Galaxy A series: A12, A32 (4G and 5G), A03, A12 Nacho, A22, A02 and devices released before 2021
- Galaxy M series: M04, M52 5G, M21 (2021), M32, M42, M12, M62, M02s, M02 and devices released before 2021
- Galaxy F series: F04, F42 5G, F22, F52 5G, F12, F02s, F62 and devices released before 2021
- Galaxy Z series: Z Fold 2, Z Flip 2, Z Fold and Z Flip
- Galaxy Tab series: All tablets released before 2021
- Galaxy Xcover series: All phones released before 2021
What’s new in One UI 6.1?
For users whose Galaxy devices are eligible for the update, One UI 6.1 promises a number of exciting improvements:
- AI Features: Wallpaper AI, real-time translation, search circle, note support, browser support and generative editing available on select models.
- Smoother animations: Animations in One UI 6.1 are smoother, providing an improved user experience.
- Improved battery protection: One UI 6.1 brings three battery protection modes: basic, adaptive and maximum.
- New widgets: New widgets are available for the home screen and lock screen, allowing for better customization.
