Samsung recently released a new charger, the EP-T5020 50W Super Fast Charging Adapter, which joins the company’s line of fast charging accessories, but it’s not included in the standard package of phones and tablets.
This model is offered at a price of 350 RON and has two charging ports, with a maximum power of 50W for a connected device.
In the context where Samsung already offers the Samsung Trio EP-T6530 adapter, with three ports and a power of 65W, for the price of 300 RON, users may wonder why they would opt for a charger with fewer ports and a higher price.
None of these chargers include a USB-C cable
Furthermore, none of these chargers include a USB-C cable, which is necessary to achieve maximum charging speeds. Thus, to benefit from charging at more than 25W, users will need to separately purchase a cable certified for 45W or more.
The EP-T5020 is compatible with the PD/PPS charging standard and is guaranteed to work optimally with compatible Samsung devices. However, when used with devices from other manufacturers, even if they support the PD/PPS protocol, operation at maximum parameters is not guaranteed.
Additionally, there is a risk that the charger may not correctly recognize other non-Samsung USB-C cables due to specific safety checks.
