Lenovo introduces the smallest Android gaming tablet, the Legion Y700

--

Lenovo recently introduced the Legion Y700 gaming tablet, updated for 2024 with a more powerful processor for more power and fluidity, and at 8.8 inches it’s the most powerful small Android tablet and a serious competitor to the iPad mini 6.

It should be noted that the Lenovo Legion Y700 is not at its first appearance on the market, the model being available as early as 2022, with less RAM memory (8/12 GB) and a slightly weaker processor (Snapdragon 870 compared to the current 8+ Gen 1).

These are actually the only differences between the two models. Connectivity, screen, battery and charging speed are identical. The tablet is compact, which helps a lot when you want to take it with you or play, because you don’t have to stretch your fingers too far on the screen to reach the buttons. At the same time, it is more comfortable during longer gaming sessions, thanks to this.

The Legion Y700’s screen is an 8.8-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 2560X1600 pixels and a 144hz refresh rate. The maximum brightness is 500 nits and the panel supports playback of HDR content according to Dolby Vision and HDR10 standards.

The processor that Lenovo put on this tablet is the well-known Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 from a few years ago, a 4-nanometer flagship processor that still performs very well in games and common tasks, but it remains to be seen how time, given that we currently have Snapdragon 8 gen 3 on flagships, and the gen 4 model will be released soon.

However, we were able to play Asphalt 9 on the Legion Y700 and had no problems loading the interface or the actual races, so the processor is doing an exemplary job at the moment.

The Legion Y700 comes with Android 13 out of the box, and we don’t know for sure how many years of updates this tablet will receive. There are two storage and memory options, 256GB and 12GB RAM or 512GB and 16GB RAM, which also offers a microSD card slot.

The Legion Y700 also offers a camera system for video conferencing with an 8 MP front and a 13 MP and 2 MP (macro) setup on the back. The sound of the two speakers is tuned by JBL and sounds pretty good for a smaller tablet.

We have WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity and two USB-C 3.1 Gen2 ports with DisplayPort 1.4 function, one at the bottom and the other on the side, to avoid confusion during gaming sessions.
