The Sonos app is getting an important update! Content and control of audio systems come to a single, easily customizable screen

On April 24, at a conference held in Santa Barbara, California, Sonos announced a complete redesign of its app. The company thus creates an unprecedented streaming experience that allows users to organize their favorite playlists, radio stations and albums, along with many other types of content that can be accessed from more than 100 streaming services, all on a single Home screen easy to customize. The new Home screen now offers faster access to Sonos system controls with a single easy swipe up. Thus the tabs from the previous interface disappear. The new app (version S2) is available globally via a software update and a completely new web app starting on May 7, 2024. It’s compatible with all existing Sonos products that run on the S2 version of the current Sonos App.

Here’s what’s new:

• Faster access to favorite music: Now there is no need for users to swipe between multiple tabs. The new Home screen gives them all their favorite content and controls in one place. They can quickly return to the most recently played content, search all services available on the platform, view recommendations from their favorite streaming services and envelop their home in music and all the sounds they love.
• Full customization: Users can enjoy the ability to select the content they want by customizing the home screen to reflect how they listen. They can pin their favorite content and services to the Home screen, then move, edit or rearrange them exactly as they want.
• Search across all streaming apps at once: Listeners can now search for an artist, song, podcast or audiobook across all their favorite streaming apps at once through an easy-to-use search bar, always available right on Home screen.
• Superior System Control: Users can swipe up when on the Home screen to seamlessly control the entire system, and access a visual overview of what’s playing on each of their connected Sonos products. They can also group speakers and adjust the volume from anywhere in the app to get the perfect intensity.

The new web app is accessible from any modern browser and allows listeners to have the same fluid control as in the mobile app.
