The debut of the Samsung Galaxy S series marked the beginning of a new era for the company. From improving the quality of the screen, to adding new features such as fingerprint scanning or facial recognition, Samsung has always known how to pleasantly surprise the public.

2010 – 2011

In 2010, Samsung introduced the 3 “S” to the market, easily integrated into the daily life and needs of users. With Super AMOLED display panel and a 9.9mm “super” slim design, the device has been on the top of everyone’s favorites.
A year away, the Galaxy S2 came with an improved Super AMOLED Plus display as well as the most powerful smartphone processor on the market, the Exynos 4 Dual (4210). The screen was 4.27 inches and the device was thinner than its predecessor, measuring just 8.49 mm thick. The smartphone camera has also introduced a flashlight function.

2012 – 2014

In 2012, the new Samsung Galaxy S3 models appeared, without sharp edges, with a 4.8-inch screen, a powerful battery and a multitude of new functions. Among them, Smart Stay, which allowed the use of the front camera without turning off the screen, if the gaze was directed at the device, or Live Video List, for the thumbnail view of video clips in the video player.
The Galaxy S4 was even thinner and lighter than the previous version, but with a larger screen. It was the first model made of scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 3. Among the innovations we recall Smart Scroll, which allowed navigation through content with the slight tilt of the device, and Smart Pause, interrupting video playback when the eyes were directed in another direction.

The Galaxy S5 was the first with an ISOCELL camera and a heart rate sensor that could be connected to other devices to monitor users’ movement levels. This model was the first to offer IP67 water and dust resistance.

2015 – 2016

The Galaxy S6 promoted a unique three-dimensional effect and a more immersive viewing experience. Made of metal and glass, the device was the first in the series to feature wireless charging and the Samsung Pay service.
Both Galaxy S7 variants additionally offered IP68 water and dust resistance. Both included a hybrid Nano SIM and microSD card slot up to 200GB.

2017 – 2018

The Galaxy S8 was the first phone with an edge-to-edge, bezel-less Infinity display, but also with Samsung’s virtual assistant, Bixby. It has incorporated facial recognition technology with biometric authentication based on fingerprint, iris and facial recognition.
The Galaxy S9’s AR Emoji camera allowed you to create your own augmented reality avatars to take selfies, while the Super Slow-mo function provided the ability to track the movement of objects to record super slow-motion videos. SmartThings meant turning your phone into a remote control for managing connected devices and Samsung DeX.

2019 – 2020

The 4 models in the Galaxy S10 series have Infinity-O display and Dynamic AMOLED technology, but also with a variety of smart features, including Wireless PowerShare, which refers to using the phone as a wireless charging stand.
The S20 series has built 5G into every model, making the new phones deliver crystal-clear photos and videos, along with great viewing and gaming experiences. The Galaxy S20 Ultra has a professional 108-megapixel camera. Samsung also now introduced a secure processor that worked with its mobile security platform, Knox, to protect data.

2021 – 2022

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is the first in the series to support the S Pen signature, but also the first Samsung smartphone to feature two telephoto lenses that offer 10x optical zoom and up to 100x spatial zoom. The model’s advanced AI technology allows for better quality photos and videos, as well as clearer selfies. The new Director’s View feature helps users choose the perfect lens for 8K video recording, which can last more than an hour. Another great feature is that it allows you to access websites on any device after signing in to your Samsung account.
The Galaxy S22 has combined the power of the Note series and the professional and high-performance camera of the S series for a new smartphone with improved camera, performance and connectivity. With a built-in S Pen, Nightography, video recording and over a day of battery life, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the most powerful Ultra device Samsung has ever created.

2023-2024

The Galaxy S23 series embodies the eco-conscious and premium experience with Samsung’s values of resource circularity for a better future for all. The new models bring improved functions, but also some new ones, offering at the same time unique experiences.

2024
The Galaxy S24 series is the latest launch and ushers in a new era for AI phones. Through innovative functions such as Live Translate or Interpreter, every user experience is significantly improved and enhanced with the help of artificial intelligence.

With each new phone model in the Galaxy S series, the company continues to redefine what is only possible in the Galaxy universe.
