Apple will rebrand the accounts used by users of its devices, which will soon be called Apple Account.
Apple ID is the account that users of Apple devices need for a whole series of facilities, from synchronizing information between devices, to purchasing applications or subscriptions.
Introduced many years ago, it is about to change its name – instead of Apple ID, it is to be renamed Apple Account.
According to anonymous sources cited by Bloomberg, the change will take place this fall, when iOS 18 will be released.
There is no clear explanation why Apple is doing this rebranding. One can suspect that Apple is trying to avoid confusion, especially since in some regions the iPhone can accommodate digital IDs.
iOS 18 is expected to be one of the most comprehensive updates for the operating system used by the iPhone. It will introduce the first AI features developed by Apple or taken from other language models, and will apparently offer more freedom in terms of personalizing the home screen.
