The Border Police has informed that there will be traffic restrictions in the next period in Hungary for TIRs. According to the authorities, the waiting time at the border points will be increasing, in the context of the Easter mini-holiday.

Restrictions starting today, April 27

Law enforcement officers say they will supplement control arteries, depending on traffic, to deal with congestion.

At the moment, the transit of cars and people takes place under normal conditions for this period through the border points.

At the same time, there are no blockages or long waiting times.

“If the situation requires it, the control arteries will be supplemented in the direction of entry or exit into/out of the country, up to the maximum capacity allowed by the infrastructure of the border crossing points. Also, for efficiency, the border police are equipped with mobile control stations that can be used at border crossing points with high traffic,” the Border Police informed.

In the intervals covered by the restrictions, truck drivers are obliged to park in the specially arranged parking lots.

They must comply with the measure until traffic resumes on public roads in the neighboring country.

During that period, the traffic of passengers and cars through the border crossing points will take place under normal conditions.

“Also, we remind you that on the border with Hungary, on Saturdays, between 10.00 and 18.00 (Romanian time), three occasional crossing points are operational, within the radius of Satu Mare county: Peleș and Bercu (in the area of responsibility of SPF Petea) and Horea (in the competence area of SPF Cara). The border points are intended for the traffic of persons domiciled in the area adjacent to the state border”, it is also stated in a press release sent by the Border Police.

The representatives of the Romanian Border Police permanently maintain contact with the Hungarian border authorities. Thus, traffic at the Romanian-Hungarian border is streamlined, and common measures can be implemented immediately.
