Sinner is in the eighth in Madrid, after a heroic fight and a superb comeback! He came back from 3-5 and saved the set point

Jannik Sinner (2 ATP) qualified for the round of 16 of the 1000 points tournament in Madrid on Monday evening, after eliminating Pavel Kotov (72 ATP) in two sets.

The Italian prevailed with the score 6-2, 7-5, at the end of a confrontation that lasted one hour and 39 minutes.

Following this success, Sinner qualified for the next round, where he will face Karen Khachanov (17 ATP) for a place in the quarters.

After a first set that he won easily, 6-2, Sinner was a little shaky in the second set.

The Italian also faced some physical issues, was led 5-3, including saving a set point, but came back absolutely fabulously and closed the score in two sets.

From 3-5, the score became 7-5, and Sinner is in the round of 16 in Madrid for the second time in his career.

Following Monday’s result, Sinner reached 27 wins and two losses in 2024, his streak since the 2023 US Open and to date an absolutely admirable 47-4.
