Romania’s 8+1 crew, made up of Magdalena Rusu, Roxana Anghel, Adriana Adam, Maria Lehaci, Mădălina Bereș, Amalia Bereș, Ioana Vrânceanu, Simona Radiș and Victoria Petreanu, brought our country the fourth gold medal at the European Rowing Championships from Szeged (Hungary).

The last race of the competition was won by Romania, in the “queen test” of 8+1, our girls recovering in the second part a minimal advantage of Great Britain, imposing themselves at the end with a lead of over three seconds.

It was the third gold medal of the day for Romania (fourth overall), after Andrei Cornea and Florin Enache, in men’s double sculls, and Ioana Vrânceanu and Roxana Anghel, European champions in women’s double sculls.

A little earlier, reigning Olympic, world and European double rowing champions, Simona Radiș and Ancuța Bodnar suffered their first defeat since 2019, winning only the bronze in women’s double rowing.

Also today, Florin Arteni and Florin Lehaci also made an impressive race in the men’s double frame, winning the silver.

On Saturday, in the first day of the finals, Romania won a gold, a silver and a bronze.

The light category double rowing crew, formed by Gianina van Groningen (former Beleagă) and Ionela Cozmiuc, won the gold, and the female four-sculls crew formed by Mădălina Bereş, Maria Lehaci, Magdalena Rusu and Amalia Bereş won the silver medal. The bronze was brought in the men’s 8+1 event, by Mihăiță Țigănescu, Ciprian Tudosă, Florin Arteni, Mugurel Semciuc, Constantin Adam, Sergiu Bejan, Ștefan, Berariu. Florin Lehaci, Adrian Munteanu.

In total, Romania ended the European Championship in Hungary with 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
