The Bucharest artistic world is facing a shocking drama. The artist Simona Săndulescu, lyrical artist and instrumentalist within the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Society, committed suicide on the night of Friday to Saturday by throwing herself into Lacul Morii in the capital.
According to rochul.ro, Simona Săndulescu, who turned 43 just a week ago, justified her gesture through an announcement made on her Facebook page at 1:29 a.m. right on the waterfront.
“My dear friends who admire me artistically, I know that I disappoint you! But life has become unbearable for me… Please forgive me! My dear E., you know that I have loved you beyond words! Now I enter Mill Lake wearing the burden of unrequited love… My dear C., please pass it on!”, wrote the artist.

The police officers of the 20th section of the Capital were alerted about the suicide ten minutes after the announcement was posted.
“On August 6, at around 1:40 a.m., by calling 112, the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest – Section 20 was informed about the fact that, in a lake in Sector 6, there is a drowned person. Police officers from Section 20 and a crew of firefighters – divers went to the scene, who intervened to pull the person out of the water,” the representatives of the Romanian Police said on Saturday.
According to the press release, “a medical team, following checks, found death”.

The lifeless body of the artist was transported to the IMP in order to carry out the necropsy. The Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Court and the Homicide Service – Suspicious Deaths and Culpable Homicide Bureau continue investigations in order to establish the circumstances in which the death occurred.
A well-known figure of the Bucharest artistic world, Simona Săndulescu was a lyricist and instrumentalist of the Romanian Broadcasting Society. The artist gave recitals as soloist organist at the Radio Hall, Saint Joseph’s Cathedral, the National University of Music, the Italian Church and the French Church and gave concerts with the National Radio Orchestra, the Radio Academic Choir and the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra.
Simona Săndulescu obtained her doctorate in music in 2010 with the thesis “Illustrating the synthesis between old and new in the Romanian organ creation of the second half of the 20th century”.
