Breast elastography

The technology is based on ultrasound and is non-invasive, giving doctors the ability to distinguish between benign and malignant lesions with greater accuracy than traditional methods [2].

The advantages of breast elastography are multiple. First of all, it is a non-invasive process, which means that it does not involve any kind of pain or discomfort for the patient. It also involves no radiation exposure. Moreover, elastography can provide detailed images of tissues, making it easier to detect small lesions and monitor their evolution over time.

The use of PET in the diagnosis of breast cancer presents numerous advantages. This method is more sensitive in detecting cancer cells compared to other imaging technologies. That’s because it can identify metabolic changes in cancer cells before they become visible on other types of scans. Furthermore, PET can help identify the spread of cancer to other parts of the body, which can be helpful in planning treatment [3].

However, PET is not perfect. Despite its considerable advantages, there are also some limitations. For example, not all small tumors can be detected by PET. Also, although PET is excellent for visualizing metabolic changes, it may be less effective at providing a detailed image of anatomical structure [2].
