Tornadoes, hail and strong winds still threaten half of the country, which is under severe weather code yellow. 12 counties also have a flood warning.

At Sinaia, the sky darkened menacingly, and heavy curtains of water poured over the city. It rained in an hour as much as in a week. The resort was flooded for the second time in less than 24 hours – something rare, say the locals. In the area of ​​the station, the asphalt was no longer visible from under the streams of water. The police stopped the traffic to make way for the firefighters who collected the scum with high-powered pumps, while nature was unleashed again.

Rain and ice alternated in stormy periods. Thick white carpets were spread on the streets. A serious layer of hail also spread to Călimăneşti, where the icy rain left serious marks on the cars. In the north, the storms also destroyed a house.

“I caught the moment. The lightning. I heard a bang and a very big flame,” says a local. The attic of a house in Baia Mare was reduced to ashes, after the roof was struck by lightning. The firemen extinguished the fire with difficulty because the hydrants in the area were not working.

24 counties came under a yellow code warning this morning, valid until almost midnight. Meteorologists warn – the rains and storms will continue, and this week we must expect at least one extreme weather code every day.

Alina Şerban, ANM meteorologist: We will witness a major change in terms of temperature. If today, the weather was particularly warm, it will cool down significantly from tomorrow, so that we will have maximums of 14-15 degrees.

Flash flood near Ploiesti

The severe weather started causing trouble since Sunday evening. Near Ploiesti, a wild flood formed after it rained for an hour and a half. A stream of only 10 centimeters suddenly swelled and became a threatening torrent.

Ana Maria Gheorghe, Observer reporter: Until Saturday there will be torrential rains, thunder, lightning and blizzards in most areas of the country. They will prefer Transylvania and Oltenia where they will bring more significant amounts of water, while in the eastern regions the rains will appear only from place to place.

Meteorologists say that we will only see the sun again at the weekend and that it will start to warm up.
