I have to admit that Xiaomei there hasn’t been much movement on the foldable phone market lately. It’s been a long time since the Mix Fold 3 appeared, and the company hasn’t even entered the flip phone market yet. Now we learn fresh information, both about Xiaomi Mix Fold 4as well as about a so-called Mix Flip.
We knew Xiaomi was working on both for a while, and the Mix Fold 3 came out in 2023, so it needs a successor. Reputed rumormonger Digital Chat Station writes on Weibo about the new models. Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip are expected to debut in the 3rd quarter of 2024. Both will have similar camera specifications: a 50-megapixel main sensor with a size of 1/1.55 inch and optical stabilization.
Then we’ll also see an Omnivision OV60A sensor, with a 1/28-inch sensor size for a telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom. Mix Fold 4 will also have a 12 MP ultrawide camera and a 10 MP telephoto periscope, with 5X optical zoom. The phones will arrive with wireless charging, although we don’t know exactly what batteries will be on board and at what speeds they will charge.
Protection against water is ensured, however, a novelty for Xiaomi foldables. As with its predecessor, the Mix Fold 4 will set new thinness records, although the Honor Magic V2 is hard to beat. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor would be in the cards for both models. Mix Fold 3 has not arrived in Romania, so we are curious if the successor will.
